Vegan Red Wines
Description
An organic Running Duck Cabernet Sauvignon red wine which is not just vegan friendly and Fairtrade but also, more importantly, extremely delicious. Sulphur and preservative free, it is produced with no compromises on ethics and production values.
The wine is deepish purple / dark red in colour and has berry and savoury notes to the bouquet. Full flavoured on the mouth with red berry fruit flavours, this gorgeous aromatic wine has a wonderful perfumed intensity and smooth vanilla tannins. Reminiscent of Beaujolais, it has a long finish and is particularly enjoyable with food.
Running Duck is produced by Stellar Organics, and is both organic and fairtrade accredited. This South African label was named after seeing Stellar’s Indian Runners ducks patrolling the vineyards, eating insects and snails, protecting the vines in the most eco friendly way. The farms are kept and managed in as natural a state as possible.

What makes wine vegan
Vegan wines are made without using any animal products. In wine making, the agents used in the fining process have to be removed and with conventional wines egg whites or milk protein are frequently used to do this. Tiny traces of the animal product can be absorbed, thus making it non-vegan.
With vegan wines, the winemakers either leave the particles to sink naturally to the bottom of the wine, or use non-animal fining products usually bentonite, a form of clay or pea protein.
